Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has blamed the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on what he described as a plot by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to weaken the party in favour of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Makinde made the remarks on Sunday during a meeting with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, in Bauchi.

He alleged that any PDP member aligned with Wike’s faction has effectively committed to supporting Tinubu in 2027.

Makinde said he attended a meeting involving Wike and President Tinubu, where Wike allegedly pledged to work against the PDP for the president’s benefit ahead of the next general election.

He added that those who choose to follow Wike are free to do so but should openly align with their preferred camp.

Makinde further claimed that while Wike’s group enjoys the backing of government institutions such as the judiciary and INEC, his camp draws strength from the support of the people.
