TWO KIDNAP VICTIMS RESCUED BY 4 BRIGADE TROOPS IN EDO

Troops from the 4 Brigade in Benin City have successfully rescued two kidnapped women in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to a statement released on Monday, March 30, 2026, by Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the victims, identified as 17-year-old Odio Momoh and 23-year-old Sonia Momoh, were freed through a joint operation involving personnel from the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Police Force, and local vigilante groups.

“On March 27, 2026, troops received a distress call regarding the abduction of two girls from a house behind the fence of NASEME in Auchi, Etsako West LGA, Edo State. Troops of 4 Brigade, together with NASEME personnel and vigilantes, immediately pursued the kidnappers into the bush,” the statement said.
The statement added that by March 28, 2026, the kidnappers, realizing they were nearly encircled, abandoned the victims and fled, allowing the security forces to rescue them and reunite them with their families.
The media reports that the victims were rescued around 8:30 p.m., and that the joint security team continues to track the suspects in an effort to dismantle their criminal network in the area.
