Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested 25-year-old Nafisa Usman for allegedly supplying ammunition to bandits operating across multiple states.
Security sources disclosed that Usman was apprehended at a major motor park in Kano while in possession of 200 rounds of newly acquired ammunition. The consignment, transported from Lafia in Nasarawa State, was reportedly destined for Kankara in Katsina State.
According to the source, the arrest followed actionable intelligence that tracked Usman’s movements and activities. “Nafisa, a native of Zango village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, was intercepted before completing the delivery allegedly intended for bandits operating in the Kankara forest,” the source said.
The suspect reportedly confessed that she had been involved in the illegal transportation of arms and ammunition for about two months. She claimed the ammunition was handed to her by an individual known as “Teso,” who allegedly works in collaboration with a military operative based in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Further investigation revealed that Usman facilitated over ₦5 million worth of arms deals through Unguwa Uku motor park in Kano for onward delivery to Katsina. The supplies were reportedly meant for a bandit leader identified as Mallam Haruna, active in the Kankara axis, as well as other operatives named Buba and Abu within the same forest region.
Usman also stated that she was introduced to the bandit network by a Kano-based livestock trader named Sulaiman.
The DSS emphasized that this operation highlights its continued commitment to dismantling criminal networks, disrupting illicit arms supply chains, and protecting national security.
