LAGOS POLICE ARREST 47 SUSPECTS, RECOVER ARMS IN MAJOR CRIME CRACKDOWN

The Lagos State Police Command has recorded notable achievements in its ongoing efforts to curb crime and enhance public safety across the state.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Olayiwola Fatai, outlined key successes since assuming office, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and strong community partnerships.
During the period under review, a total of 47 suspects were arrested in connection with offences including armed robbery, cultism, fraud, and vehicle theft. The Command also recovered 14 firearms, 96 rounds of ammunition, 29 cartridges, and 14 vehicles, in addition to other incriminating items.
The Command further reported a peaceful and incident-free Easter celebration, attributing the outcome to proactive personnel deployment and well-coordinated security strategies across key locations in the state.
Notable operations include:
•Arrest of several suspected cultists, including 21 individuals apprehended at a gathering in Ajao Estate
•Disruption of a car theft syndicate and recovery of stolen vehicles
•Arrest of a suspected fraudster linked to a ₦130 million case, with luxury vehicles worth over ₦520 million recovered
•Prevention of a ransom-related crime through a successful decoy operation
•Recovery of illegal firearms and intensified efforts to curb arms proliferation
The Command also strengthened its response to street-level crimes, leading to the arrest of suspects involved in mobile phone theft and related offences.
CP Fatai reiterated the Command’s determination to sustain its operational momentum, deepen community engagement, and maintain a safe environment for residents and businesses.
He also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information.
All suspects will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
