Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed more than 30 insurgents and destroyed several boats during a military offensive along the Lake Chad waterways near Kaniram Island in Borno State.
According to a statement issued by the Northeast Joint Task Force spokesperson, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the operation was carried out between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
The military said air surveillance identified a concentration of over 30 boats allegedly used by terrorists for movement and logistics support in the area.

Following intelligence gathering and target confirmation, air assets launched coordinated precision strikes that destroyed the boats and disrupted the insurgents’ supply network.
The operation reportedly weakened the group’s mobility and operational capacity, while follow-up strikes targeted fleeing fighters hiding in nearby vegetation.
Military authorities said more than 30 insurgents were neutralised, with surviving members seen retreating in disarray.
In a separate operation around the Sambisa Forest axis at Sowolwolo, additional air strikes were conducted in collaboration with partners.
The strikes reportedly destroyed three gun trucks and eliminated more suspected terrorists in the area.
Post-strike assessments indicated heavy losses among the insurgents, including reports of burial activities linked to members of the Islamic State West Africa Province near the Mallam Fatori axis.
The military said ground troops are continuing clearance operations to prevent regrouping by fleeing insurgents and maintain control of surrounding areas.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups operating in the region until they are fully defeated.
