BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS STORM CHIBOK COMMUNITY IN BORNO STATE

Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters on Thursday evening reportedly attacked Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to Vanguard said the attackers are currently firing sporadically and setting houses ablaze, forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety.
It was gathered that the assault comes months after a similar attack on March 30, 2026, when terrorists invaded the same community around 6 p.m., killing the commander of local hunters, Mallam Bumto, who had returned from Lagos a day earlier.
During that earlier attack, Johanna Peter, whose wedding was scheduled for March 31, 2026, was also killed alongside several other residents. The incident left the community displaced, with food items and livestock looted, though residents had only recently begun returning.
A security source from Kautikari, currently based in Maiduguri and not authorised to speak publicly, confirmed the latest attack, describing the situation as chaotic.
“Yes, our community of Kautikari is under Boko Haram attack. I received a distress call around 6:50 p.m. on Thursday,” the source said.
“We cannot confirm casualties at the moment as they are still attacking and people are running for their lives,” the source added.
