Nigeria forward, Henry Onyekuru on Thursday said he was excited to be back after injury disrupted his campaign last season and feels honoured to have made his Galatasaray debut.
Onyekuru’s season was cut short after he picked up a knee injury in Anderlecht’s league clash against his former club Eupen.
Though he featured in a couple of reserve games in the closing stages of the campaign after recovering from the injury, he was not considered fit enough to play for the first team.
Onyekuru however made his first appearance for Galatasaray in a pre-season game against Dutch club PSV Eindhoven which they lost 1-3 on Wednesday following his loan move from English Premier League clubside, Everton.
The match played at the Stade de Chailly, Montreux saw Onyekuru introduced in the 66th minute in place of Jose Rodrigues but couldn’t help salvage the result in favour of his side.
“What a great feeling to be back on the field after such a long time. Preseason is in full effect! Honored to wear the Galatasary kit for the 1st time!#Thankful,” Onyekuru wrote on his Twitter handle.
Galatasary will face Valencia of Spain in their next pre-season friendly on Saturday.
