The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has urged young Nigerians to leverage emerging technologies and position themselves as drivers of the country’s digital transformation.
AKOD gave the charge while attending the graduation ceremony of 100 youths who successfully completed a four-week Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computer Vision training programme organised by the NECA ICT Academy in partnership with VFS Global.
Speaking at the event, the chairman congratulated the graduates on completing the intensive programme, describing the achievement as an important step toward preparing them for opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital economy.
He noted that Artificial Intelligence has become one of the defining technologies of the 21st century and encouraged the beneficiaries to maximise the knowledge and skills acquired by embracing innovation, continuous learning and responsible leadership.
According to him, the training should serve as the foundation for a lifelong journey of personal growth, excellence and service, stressing that the future belongs to young people who possess relevant digital skills and can adapt to the changing demands of the global economy.
AKOD also commended the NECA ICT Academy and VFS Global for their investment in youth development through digital skills acquisition, describing the initiative as a model of how strategic partnerships can create sustainable economic opportunities for young people.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, innovation and human capital development through the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, assuring that Ikeja Local Government would continue to support programmes that equip young people with future-ready skills and improve their competitiveness in the global workforce.
The graduation ceremony marked the successful completion of the training by 100 participants, who received practical instruction in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and other emerging digital technologies, positioning them for careers in the expanding technology sector.
The chairman wished the graduates success in their future endeavours and urged them to become ambassadors of innovation, excellence and national development.
