Millwall winger Femi Azeez suffered a hamstring injury during his side’s 2-0 Championship victory over Bristol City at Ashton Gate Stadium on Saturday.

Azeez started the season opener but was forced off after just 30 minutes after experiencing discomfort in his hamstring. He was replaced by Kyrell Lisbie as Millwall secured all three points.

The extent of the injury remains unknown, with Millwall manager Alex Neil saying the club would need to wait for further assessment before determining the severity of the problem.

“He just says he felt something in his hamstring,” Neil said, according to NewsAtDen, as quoted by Southwark News.

“We’re hoping that it’s not going to be anything significant. I don’t think it is at this stage from speaking to him.

“But I could’ve said that about another four players that are probably sitting at the treatment table now.

“I don’t want to say too much about it. We hope Femi’s fine. He’s been a talisman for us.”

The injury comes after Azeez enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists in 37 league appearances as Millwall finished third in the Championship and reached the promotion playoffs.

His performances earned him a place in the Championship Team of the Season and subsequently led to his first senior call-up to the Nigeria national team.

The former Reading winger made an immediate impact for the Super Eagles after making his international debut under head coach Éric Chelle at the 2026 Unity Cup in May.

Azeez scored twice against Zimbabwe before registering an assist as Nigeria defeated Jamaica 3-0 in the final.

The 25-year-old has also attracted interest from Hull City and has reportedly expressed a desire to secure a move to the Premier League.

He will now undergo further assessment to determine the extent of the hamstring injury, with Millwall hoping the problem is not serious enough to sideline him for an extended period.
