The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the sale of application forms for the 2027 Hajj and Ramadan Umrah exercises, urging intending pilgrims to register early and begin payment of their fares in line with the timetable set by Saudi authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The Secretary of the Board, Abdul-Hakeem Ajomagberin, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.

According to him, the Hajj application form costs ₦20,000, while the Ramadan Umrah form is priced at ₦10,000, with payments to be made through the Board’s Accounts Department.

Ajomagberin said intending Hajj pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of ₦7 million through a bank draft obtained from any commercial bank in favour of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

He noted that the final Hajj fare would be determined after NAHCON announces the approved cost, adding that pilgrims would be informed of any upward or downward review.

The Board fixed September 2026 as the deadline for payment of the initial deposit.

“For Hajj, intending pilgrims are to pay an initial deposit of ₦7 million via bank draft drawn from any commercial bank in favour of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board,” the statement read.

For prospective Ramadan Umrah pilgrims, Ajomagberin said an initial deposit of ₦5.7 million is also required through a bank draft.

He advised applicants to ensure they obtain official receipts for all payments made to the Board’s Accounts Department.

The Board Secretary explained that the early registration drive aligns with NAHCON’s directive to state pilgrims’ welfare boards to conclude registration and payments well ahead of the pilgrimage.

“Timely compliance will enable NAHCON to effectively coordinate visa processing, accommodation, airlift arrangements and other logistics with Saudi authorities to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience for Nigerian pilgrims,” he said.

Ajomagberin added that the pilgrimage packages were designed to provide comfort and convenience, with accommodation located within walking distance of the Haram, reliable local transportation, daily breakfast and dinner featuring local dishes, medical services, spiritual guidance and guided Ziyarah visits to important religious and historical sites in Makkah and Madinah.

He also announced that enrolment in the Lagos State Health Management Agency’s Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme has become mandatory for all intending pilgrims.

According to him, individual subscribers will pay ₦15,000, while family registration will cost ₦55,000.

Ajomagberin said the health insurance requirement is intended to guarantee access to quality healthcare before departure, during the pilgrimage and upon return to Nigeria.

He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to transparency and accountability, describing the principles as key factors behind Lagos State’s reputation for effective Hajj administration.

The Board Secretary expressed confidence that with the continued support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat and the oversight of NAHCON, the 2027 pilgrimage would be one of the most successful in recent years.
