Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider raising Nigeria’s national minimum wage to N100,000.

AbdulRazaq made the call on Friday during a Sallah homage paid to the President at his Lagos residence by members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Addressing the President, the NGF chairman noted that several state governments are already paying salaries close to N100,000 and suggested that discussions should begin on adopting a new national minimum wage benchmark.

According to him, increasing the minimum wage would reflect current economic realities and align with what many states are already implementing.

“On the issue of minimum wage, most of the states are paying almost N100,000 today, and I urge Your Excellency that we begin discussions on moving the minimum wage to N100,000,” AbdulRazaq said.

He expressed confidence that the Federal Government would provide the necessary support to facilitate the implementation of the proposed wage increase.

“We know we will receive the usual support from you as we move forward with its implementation,” he added.
