Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 4 Brigade, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, have rescued a 50-year-old farmer, Mr Lucky Egbiki, who was abducted from his farm in Okehussan, Ubiaja, Esan South East LGA of Edo State.
The operation, carried out on August 6, followed intelligence on the farmer’s abduction. Security forces reportedly used ransom negotiations to lure the kidnappers to a location in Onogholo, where troops engaged the gang.
During the encounter, one kidnapper who arrived to collect the ransom was neutralized, while other members of the gang reportedly fled into the surrounding forest, with some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.
The victim was rescued unhurt, while ₦1.5 million reportedly prepared as ransom was recovered. He was later handed over to his family after medical assessment and debriefing.

Troops subsequently conducted follow-up clearance operations in the surrounding forest on August 7 and 8 in an effort to track the fleeing suspects.
The Commander of 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, commended the troops for their courage and professionalism, assuring residents that security forces would continue intelligence-led operations to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities across Edo State.
