It is very rare to see one of the most revered clergies in Nigeria and beyond, leader of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, EA Adeboye make public comments on a controversial issue, however, the recent rape allegations against the founder of COZA, Biodun Fatoyinbo has compelled him to do so.

Adeboye during his church’s monthly programme said, though the two bodies, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, under whose authorities he is, have both made known their positions, which he is totally in support of, he felt forced to make his opinion on the scandal according to The Bible known. The two bodies had denied Fatoyinbo as a member.

Recall that Busola, famous photographer and wife of popular Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo had in a viral video interview with Ynaija accused Senior pastor of COZA, Fatoyinbo of sexually violating her at the age of 16 when she was a member of his church.

Since then, protests at the headquarter of the Assembly, more allegations and a press statement announcing Fatoyinbo’s leave of absence from his church have all rocked this developing rape scandal. An official law suit had also been filed against the suspect by Busola Dakolo.

A lady who claimed to be a former staff of Fatoyinbo’s church had also just recently added to the list of victims allegedly raped by the ‘man of god’.

Pastor Adeboye in his reactions said, young ministers needed to be more discreet in handling relationships with the opposite sex, saying he declined hiring a female secretary as one of the precautions against potential rape allegations.

“You may say I’m old fashioned, I agree (but), I will never have a private secretary who is a woman”, he said.
