LAGOS STATE POLICE COMMAND PARADES 27 CRIMINAL SUSPECTS

In the fight against crime and criminality within Lagos State, the Police command has paraded a total number of 27 suspects, who have engaged in varying crimes including armed robbery, murder, cultism and vandalization.

The suspects according to the State Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, comprised of 26 males and one female.

While addressing the press on Friday, Hundeyin, who represented the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa stated that, a total of six arms, twelve live ammunition, one knife, two motorcycles, one unregistered Toyota Corolla, one Beret and sim cards were recovered from these suspects.

He further stated that in Mushin area of the state, three boys suspected to be members of one Kesari confraternity were planning to retaliate the death of their leader on another rival cult members when the police apprehended them.

Their names are: Tobi Robert (20), Toheeb Tajuderm (25) and Nurudeen Kazeem (27) adding that investigation revealed that they are notorious armed robbery/cultism gang terrorizing the area.

Also, in the Ebute-metta area of the State, One Lukman Odusimi (25) and another Junior Peter (21), were arrested with a Jack Knife while allegedly attacking rival cult members.

Meanwhile, in the Aratunmi area of Iba, Okokomaiko, Lagos State, Police operatives of the command rescued two suspects namely Ishola Segun aka Bouncer (32) and Auwal Daud aka Blessign Boy (21), who were being mobbed for shooting one Ojo Lion (M), to death.

The Police Public Relations Officer said, “One locally made single barrel pistol and one expanded cartridge was recovered from the scene. Further investigation into the matter, led to the arrest of Adejare Oyelade (29), Oyekanmi Paul Kolawole (27), Omotoshola Tunde(31), Moses Ishola (36), Wasiu Ojo (28), Tolulope Adebisi (38), Ifeoluwa Izokpu (23) and Adebanke Bello (f).

Four locally made single barrel pistol with live cartridges were recovered from them,” he said.

In another case, two members of an armed robbery gang were arrested in the Agege area of the State for attacking and robbing a resident, who eventually died as a result of the attack. The suspects are 28-year-old Yusuf Akeem and his accomplice Taisiru Aminu aged 22.

Also, Morufu Alabed (32), Idowu Raji (35), Ibrahim Abubakar (33) and Femi Afolabi (30), who specializes in removing vehicles from parks were arrested on 7th of July, 2023 at about 1942hrs, for armed robbery. One unregistered Toyota Corolla, was recovered during this operation.

Another is 25-year-old Adamu Hassan, 22-year-old Abacha Hassan and Abdulrasheed Abubakar, were arrested for being in custody of two stolen motorcycles.

Hundeyin also mentioned that, the police has arrested one 46-year-old Saheed Ramon, suspected to be an oil thief noting that, all suspects will be charged to court immediately after the parade.

Recall that Hotjist, had previously reported that, on the 8th of July, 2023, some oil vandals, gained access to an NNPC pipe around Goodluck Jonathan Estate, Idimu, Pipeline road, Lagos in a bid to illegally fill a tanker with premium motor spirit, PMS.

The oil thieves who later abandoned the act and escaping in the process, upon arrival of personnel of the Nigeria police from the Idimu Division.

CP Idowu Owohunwa, however, assured Lagosians that the Command, would continue to do everything operationally possible, to ensure that crime and criminality is brought to the barest minimum in the State.
