Operation Hadarin Daji, part of Joint Task Force North West, has seen the troops eliminate ten terrorists and free nine captives who were kidnapped between the states of Zamfara and Katsina.

Along with weapons and ammunition, they also found functional motorcycles and communication devices.

Cpt. Ibrahim Yahaya, the Force Information Officer, revealed this in a statement.

Yahaya said that Maj-Gen Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding of the 8th Division of the Nigerian Army, had accomplished the feat during recent clearance operations during the dry season.

According to Yahaya, on January 3, 2024, the OPHD’s combined forces carried out an offensive operation in the Katsina State local government areas of Batsari and Safana, where they located terrorist enclaves. Ten of the terrorists were neutralised, and the remaining ones fled with bullet wounds.

According to him, the soldiers also found one AK-47 rifle, ammunition, seven Dane guns, three locally made guns, and other potentially lethal weaponry and communication devices.

The military retrieved and destroyed four motorcycles, cell phones, and uniforms.

“Similarly, on the same day, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, operating in Zamfara State, conducted a search and rescue operation at Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru LG of Zamfara State.

“During the operation, nine kidnapped victims were rescued including five women and four babies,” he said.

Yahaya added that the victims were abandoned by the terrorists who fled after a gun duel with the resilient troops.

“The rescued victims were immediately reunited with their families at Magami in Zamfara State,” Said Yahaya.

The Commander, Maj-Gen Godwin Mutkut, commended the efforts of the troops and urged them to maintain the tempo.
