EDUCATION DISTRICT II CELEBRATES YORUBA CULTURE, TRADITIONAL DAY IN IMOTA

To ensure the core values of the rich cultural heritage of Imota and its environs are not lost among the upcoming generations, the Lagos State Education District II recently celebrated the year 2024 Cultural Festival tagged: “Àyájó Àsà Àti Ìse Yoruba Ìmòta 2024 at the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro of Imota Kingdom, Ikorodu.

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, in her opening remarks, appreciated the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for the opportunity to impact the lives of Students across the State and uphold the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of Mr. Governor on Education aims to improve and promote the State Education Sector.

She also noted that Mr. Governor has done so much to showcase the rich culture of Lagos State both locally and internationally, adding that the strategic development of Education in Lagos State has been unprecedented under the leadership of the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun.

On his part, the Ranodu of Imota of Kingdom, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro expressed his profound happiness for witnessing the monumental event in his domain and equally appreciated the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye for her generosity and outstanding performance.

Thereafter, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro conferred the traditional title of “Yeye Meto” of Imota on the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary Education District II for her immense contributions to Education and humanity. He further encouraged and educated the participating Students on the notable aspects of Yoruba rich culture that should be imbibed, embraced and nurtured.
