Manchester City have been hit with a £1 million fine by the Premier League after accepting sanctions for breaching league rules on nine occasions.
The reigning champions endured a disappointing 2024–25 domestic campaign, finishing third and ending their streak of four consecutive titles.
The fine adds to their woes as they continue their Club World Cup campaign.
The breach relates to Premier League Rule L.33, which mandates that teams must begin or resume matches promptly at the start of each half.
Repeated violations result in escalating fines.
City were initially fined £40,000 for the first offence, with subsequent penalties increasing in severity—culminating in a £190,000 fine for the ninth breach.
The total now stands at £1 million after the club reached a settlement with the league.
