The Nigeria Police Force has rescued 46 Ghanaian nationals trafficked into Nigeria and arrested seven suspects connected to a transnational human trafficking and cyber fraud network.
This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who revealed that the operations were coordinated by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, as part of joint efforts to tackle organised crime across West Africa.
One of the coordinated missions, carried out in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Accra, led to the rescue of 31 Ghanaian victims lured into Nigeria under the false promise of European employment opportunities. Upon arrival, the victims were reportedly coerced into fraudulent internet marketing linked to the controversial QNET network.
According to police investigations, the trafficking ring began to unfold in August 2024, when a Ghanaian national, Samuel Dankwah Opoku, was deceived by a suspect, George Tenkron, with a fake job offer in Spain. Opoku was instructed to travel to Nigeria and later recruited into QNET’s illicit schemes after paying GHC 30,000 to a known QNET associate in Nigeria, Attah Amankwaah.
Acting on intelligence, police operatives arrested six suspects, including Amankwaah, and recovered incriminating evidence during a raid on the syndicate’s operational base.
The statement noted that the rescued victims have since been handed over to the Ghana High Commission in Abuja for repatriation and reintegration in line with international protocols.

In a separate incident, on June 17, 2025, INTERPOL received a distress call regarding four trafficked Ghanaians, allegedly lured by Achiaa Grace Afrifa, a 39-year-old woman who collected GHC 126,000 from them under the guise of overseas job placements.
Afrifa was arrested on June 18 at her residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where 15 additional victims were rescued.
All seven suspects involved in both operations are in custody and will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations, the police said.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the swift response and collaboration between INTERPOL, the Ghana High Commission, and Nigerian security operatives. He reaffirmed the force’s dedication to dismantling human trafficking rings, tackling cybercrime, and enhancing cross-border cooperation to combat organised crime.
