French midfielder Paul Pogba has officially signed with AS Monaco on a free transfer, marking a significant turn in the career of the World Cup winner after a turbulent spell with Juventus.

Monaco announced the signing in an official statement on Friday, confirming Pogba’s arrival on a deal believed to run until June 2027.

The statement reads, “AS Monaco are delighted to announce the arrival of Paul Pogba. The French World Champion has signed a two-season deal, having signed with the Principality until 30 June 2027.

“Born in Lagny-sur-Marne (Seine-et-Marne), Paul Pogba began his training at Le Havre AC before moving on to Manchester United, where he made his professional debut in 2011.

“It was at Juventus, which he joined in 2012, that Pogba revealed himself at the highest level. With the Old Lady, he won four consecutive Serie A titles (2013 to 2016), as well as two Italian Cups (2015, 2016) and two Italian Supercups (2013, 2015). He also reached the Champions League final in 2015. With the Bianconeri (2012-2016 and 2022-2024), he made a total of 190 appearances (34 goals, 39 assists).

“In 2016, Pogba returned to Manchester United, where he played for six seasons. He made 233 appearances, scoring 39 goals and providing 51 assists. With the Red Devils, he won the Europa League and the English League Cup in 2017.

“As a member of the French national team, Paul Pogba, a product of the ’93 generation, was regularly called up to all the French national team’s youth teams. He won the U20 World Cup in 2013, was voted Golden Boy the same year, and then became one of the key players in the French national team over the last decade. He has 91 caps, 11 goals and 9 assists to his name.

“He made a significant contribution to Les Bleus‘ victory at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, scoring a goal in the final against Croatia. He also won the Nations League in 2021 and played at Euro 2016, where France were finalists, as well as Euro 2020.

“After Le Havre, Manchester United and Juventus, Paul Pogba will now play for AS Monaco and discover the French top flight.

Pogba will now restart his career in his home country following a doping ban.

The former Manchester United midfielder joins the Ligue 1 side after having his Juventus contract terminated in November 2024 following his positive test for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA).

The 32-year-old was initially given a four-year ban, but it was later reduced to 18 months.
