POLICE RESCUE FIVE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS IN LAGOS, KATSINA

The Nigeria Police Force, in a continuous and methodical initiative focused on mitigating crime and unlawful activities, has liberated one abducted individual in Lagos and four abducted individuals in Katsina, in addition to seizing weaponry and munitions.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, stated that throughout the operations, numerous firearms and munitions, comprising one AK-47 rifle, were retrieved.

He stated, “Law enforcement personnel affiliated with the Lagos State Command, acting on reliable information, responded to a reported incident of kidnapping in the Ikoga region of Morogbo.

The individual, a 20-year-old male identified as Kehinde, was enticed via WhatsApp and abducted by his captors, who requested a ransom of ₦500,000 from his relatives.

Prompt law enforcement response resulted in the apprehension of three individuals: Celestine Okeke (28), Michael Okonkwo (25), and Kehinde Oladun (30), as well as the recovery of the abducted victim unharmed, who has subsequently been reunited with his family.

“In a separate occurrence, operatives of the Kastina State command, responding to an alert regarding an assault and abduction attempt at Mazare village within the state, promptly deployed to the location, where the police confronted the abductors in an intense gunbattle.

The abductors were overwhelmed by the greater firepower of the agents, prompting them to escape with varying levels of gunshot wounds, resulting in the safe recovery of four abducted individuals unharmed.

Likewise, on 22nd June 2025, law enforcement officials affiliated with Okene Division, Kogi State, halted a dubious Nissan automobile en route to Auchi.

“The driver of the vehicle absconded into the forest, leaving behind a bag.

An extensive examination performed on the automobile resulted in the retrieval of an AK-47 firearm, 28 cartridges of 5.6mm ammunition, one G3 magazine, a dark-colored shirt, mobile phone accessories, and additional personal belongings housed within a bag.

“Initiatives are in progress to capture the evasive suspect.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the endeavors of these courageous and valiant personnel, encouraging them to maintain the momentum in ensuring Nigeria is liberated from unlawful elements. 

The Nigeria Police Force reasserts its unwavering dedication to intelligence-led policing, rapid operational responses, and inter-agency cooperation, and remains resolute in its objective to safeguard lives and assets throughout the country.

“Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with the police as we work toward a safer and more secure Nigeria.”
