In a groundbreaking artistic feat, Nigerian visual artist Holiveah has completed a 168-hour marathon painting session, marking a bold Guinness World Record attempt for the longest painting marathon by an individual.

The Rivers State-born artist, originally from Bonny Island, began the non-stop paint-a-thon on July 21 and concluded at exactly 1:50 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025. The event spanned seven consecutive days and captured the attention of art lovers, cultural icons, and supporters across Nigeria and beyond.

Initially setting her sights on 150 hours, Holiveah surpassed expectations, pushing through to 168 hours in what many have described as a powerful testament to discipline, resilience, and artistic excellence.

“This wasn’t just about breaking a record,” Holiveah said. “It was about proving that consistency, creativity, and courage can open doors globally especially for African women.”

Her marathon painting session also served as a vibrant cultural exhibition, celebrating Nigeria’s diverse heritage and youth expression through powerful themes of hope, pride, and resilience.

The initiative, which drew visitors to Bonny Island, also contributed to local tourism and positioned the region as an emerging creative hub. Observers lauded the record attempt as a “movement of hope, art, and African excellence.”

Holiveah’s submission is now awaiting official confirmation from the Guinness World Records team.
