The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media that falsely alleged criminal activities, including killings and the sale of human parts, at Thirty 8 Restaurant, Airport Road, Lagos.

In a statement on Thursday, the Command described the claims as baseless and misleading, warning that such content is capable of causing panic and disaffection among Lagosians.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, ordered an immediate investigation led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). The inquiry, he said, confirmed that no criminal activity took place at the restaurant.

“The Command urges members of the public to disregard the viral video, as it is unfounded. We encourage Lagosians to continue their lawful activities, including patronizing the restaurant, as no evidence of wrongdoing was found on the premises,” the statement read.

The police further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track the originators of the malicious video. Members of the public with credible information on those responsible are urged to come forward. Information will be treated with confidentiality, the Command assured, as legal action will be pursued against those spreading falsehoods.

Residents were also reminded to verify information before sharing, to curb the spread of fake news capable of undermining public peace.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and businesses across the state.
