The Imo State Police Command has announced an operation to rescue Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, a former member of the State House of Assembly who represented Okigwe Constituency, following his abduction by suspected terrorists.

Police spokesperson DSP Okoye Henry confirmed in a statement on Sunday that a viral video showing the lawmaker in captivity has drawn immediate action from the command.

According to the statement, Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has ordered the deployment of the Command’s Tactical Units in collaboration with other security agencies to track down the perpetrators and secure Ogbu’s release.

The former legislator was abducted at Onuimo on September 7, 2025.

“The Command appeals to the public to remain calm and vigilant. Anyone with useful information that can assist the ongoing operations should please contact the Imo State Police Command on 0803 477 3600 or report at the nearest Police Station,” the statement read.

The Command reassured residents of its determination to bring the suspects to justice and ensure Ogbu’s safe reunion with his family.
