Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has congratulated celebrity chef Hilda Baci on setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
In a personal statement on Tuesday, Tinubu praised Baci’s passion and creativity, describing her feat as an inspiration to young women across the country.
“Hilda, your passion, resilience, and creativity in showcasing your craft as a celebrity chef of one of Nigeria’s most loved dishes on the global stage is inspiring. Through this feat, you have shown what young Nigerian women can accomplish with hard work, determination, and the power of innovation,” she said.
Tinubu added that the achievement had brought pride to the nation and expressed hope for “greater accomplishments” by Nigerian youth who “dare to dream.”
Baci, 28, cooked her way into history on Saturday after preparing 8,780 kilogrammes (19,356 lb 9 oz) of Nigerian-style jollof rice in partnership with food brand Gino at Victoria Island, Lagos. Guinness World Records officially confirmed the record on Monday.
This marks Baci’s second Guinness World Record. In 2023, she gained global recognition after cooking continuously for more than 90 hours in Lagos, earning the title for the longest individual cooking marathon.
