“It was a sudden and natural death. The incident happened at Oke-Ola in Igbaye. They saw him, Basiru Aminu, lying dead this morning at his workplace. He is a security man,” Ojelabi said.
“The matter was reported, and the police went there to check if there was any mark of violence, but there was no such thing. Nevertheless, the investigation is still ongoing. On our part, an autopsy might be conducted.”
The death of the 38-year-old guard reportedly threw the community into panic, with residents offering conflicting accounts of what might have happened.
While some locals suspected foul play, others suggested that Aminu could have suffered a sudden health complication.
A business owner in Oke Ola, who requested anonymity, said,
“I was among the first people who arrived at the scene. We met his motionless body and contacted the police immediately. They came and evacuated it. It was a sad development. People are already insinuating that the man was killed.”
Another resident, Risikat, who said she knew the deceased, expressed confidence that the police investigation would reveal the true cause of death.
“People are saying different things, but I believe the police will find out what really happened. It might even be a health issue,” she said.
This is not the first time such a discovery has unsettled Osun residents. On March 16, 2025, it was reported that the body of an unidentified man was found abandoned at a deserted bus stop along the Ife/Ibadan Expressway in Ikire, sparking similar fears in the community.
Police authorities have assured residents of Igbaye that the latest incident will be thoroughly investigated to uncover the truth behind Aminu’s death.
