FEDERAL HIGH COURT COMMENCE CHRISTMAS VACATION DECEMBER 19TH

AGENCY REPORT
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Federal High Court will begin its Christmas break on December 19. Court sessions will resume in all judicial divisions on January 7, 2026, according to a statement released Monday in Abuja by Dr. Catherine Christopher, the FHC’s Director of Information.
“On December 19, the court will begin its 2025 Christmas Vacation. Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended) provides the basis for this vacation schedule. On January 7, 2026, court sessions will resume in all judicial divisions.
“The main judicial divisions Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt will continue to function and be available to the litigating public throughout the vacation.”
She asserts that the vacation judges will only consider cases that involve the arrest or release of vessels, the enforcement of fundamental rights, and concerns of immediate national interest.
Christopher stated that Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeolu would preside over the Lagos Division, while Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice Musa Liman would act as vacation judges for the Abuja Division. She stated that Justice Folashade Giwa-Ogunbanjo would serve as the vacation judge at the Enugu Judicial Division, while Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed would sit at the Port Harcourt Division. “The Chief Justice, Hon. John T. Tsoho, KSS, OFR, FCIArb, Justice.
(UK), wishes all Honourable Judges a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” she said in closing. During the Christmas and New Year season, certain federal ministries, departments, and agencies usually take temporary breaks, adopt modified work schedules, or scale back operations. The yearly procedure enables organizations to oversee fewer operations while guaranteeing the availability of critical services.
