A tragic incident occurred in Ofeh Community, Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Thursday evening, where a man, identified as Nwalozie Chiwendu, reportedly killed his brother, Chidiebere Isaiah, over allegations of witchcraft.
Sources revealed that Chiwendu accused his brother of being the cause of his personal stagnation. In a violent confrontation, he allegedly attacked Isaiah with a machete, inflicting fatal injuries. Witnesses say the suspect fled the scene after realizing the gravity of his actions, leaving his brother in a pool of blood.
Mr. Chinonso Chima, Youth President of Ofeh Community, described the incident as “unfortunate” and recounted the events:
“Yesterday evening, I received calls from members of the community about a violent clash between two brothers from the same compound. The younger brother reportedly used a cutlass to attack his elder brother before fleeing the scene. Efforts were immediately made to rush the victim to the hospital, but he sadly passed away on the way.”

Confirming the incident, Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the suspect allegedly killed his brother after accusing him of witchcraft, which he claimed hindered his personal progress. “The victim’s body has been recovered and deposited in the mortuary. Investigation is ongoing, and efforts to apprehend the suspect are underway,” she added.
