OKOBI-OKEOGHENE, MONDAY RETURN AS MADUGU NAMES 25-PLAYER SUPER FALCONS SQUAD FOR CAMEROON FRIENDLIES
Agency Report

Midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and forward Gift Monday have made a return to the Super Falcons squad after head coach Justine Madugu unveiled a 25-player list for this month’s international friendlies against Cameroon.
The nine-time Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions will face the Indomitable Lionesses in a two-match friendly scheduled for February 28 and March 4 in Yaoundé. The matches form part of the team’s build-up to major continental assignments later this year.
Okobi-Okeoghene last featured for Nigeria at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), while Monday missed out on the squad to the delayed 2024 WAFCON, staged in 2025 in Morocco. Their recall is seen as a boost to the squad as preparations intensify.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade headlines the list, alongside first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and forwards Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo.
England-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor earned her maiden call-up, while defender Chidinma Okeke returns to the fold. Midfielder Precious Christopher also received her first senior invitation.
Defensive stalwarts Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin and Ashleigh Plumptre were included in the squad.
Other midfielders named are Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Deborah Abiodun and Jennifer Echegini, while forwards Rinsola Babajide and Folashade Ijamilusi also made the cut.
Notably absent from the squad is six-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala.
The friendly matches are part of preparations for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Morocco from March 17 to April 3. All four semi-finalists at the tournament will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
