OKPEBHOLO APPOINTS MERCY JOHNSON-OKOJIE AS SPECIAL ADVISER ON PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed renowned Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy.
The announcement was made in a statement on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, highlighting that the appointment aims to strengthen government communication with the public and enhance citizen engagement with state policies and programmes.
The statement described Johnson-Okojie as “an accomplished Nigerian actress, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist,” noting her nearly two-decade career in Nollywood, featuring in over 200 films.
Through her Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation, she has championed initiatives focused on women empowerment, child welfare, education support, and healthcare outreach.
Ikhilor explained that the actress is expected to leverage her public influence and grassroots reach to improve communication between the Edo State Government and its citizens.
Mercy Johnson-Okojie’s husband, Odianosen Okogie, represents Esan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
