ADELEKE ANNOUNCES REDUCED WORK HOURS FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS IN OSUN DURING RAMADAN, LENT
By Aishat Momoh. O.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday announced a reduction in official work hours for state employees in observance of the ongoing Ramadan and Lent fasting periods.
The governor stated that the adjustment is intended to support public servants during the fasting season, allowing them sufficient time for worship and reflection.
According to a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, dated February 19, 2026, titled “Closure of Work During Ramadan and Lent Fasting Periods”, the revised schedule is as follows:
Mondays to Thursdays: Work ends by 2:00 pm
Fridays: Work ends by 1:00 pm
The circular emphasised that the measure is temporary and applies only during the ongoing fasting seasons.
Governor Adeleke explained that the gesture is also aimed at enabling public servants to pray for continued peace and tranquillity in the state, especially in light of the upcoming gubernatorial election.
However, the circular clarified that employees on essential services, particularly medical personnel, are exempt from the arrangement due to the critical nature of their duties.
The governor directed all political office holders, accounting officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, heads of non-ministerial agencies, Local Government Areas, and Local Council Development Authorities to ensure compliance and widely communicate the new schedule to their staff.
