The Kaduna State Government has resolved its dispute with the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), leading to the immediate suspension of the union’s one-week strike and full resumption of judicial activities across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, disclosed that a high-level government delegation met with the State Executive Committee of JUSUN at the Attorney-General’s Chamber on February 23, 2026, to address the issues in contention.

The union’s demands included implementation of financial autonomy for the state judiciary, consequential salary adjustments arising from the new minimum wage, payment of outstanding salary arrears for April and May 2021, and settlement of leave grant arrears.

According to Maiyaki, the meeting ended on a positive note, with all matters amicably resolved in line with the directive of Governor Uba Sani.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, James Kanyip, described the engagement as fruitful, saying the outcome reflects the governor’s commitment to industrial harmony and improved productivity within the public service.

He added that the resolution would enhance collaboration between the executive and the judiciary while ensuring uninterrupted justice delivery in Kaduna State.

The state government commended JUSUN’s leadership for its cooperation during negotiations and urged judiciary workers to resume duties promptly in the interest of the public and the administration of justice.
