At least four women died and 26 others sustained injuries in a ghastly motor accident on Monday evening along the Yola–Mubi Road in Adamawa State.

The Deputy Chairman of Song Local Government Area, Donan Prambe, said the vehicle involved was carrying women travelling to the Annual Convention of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) in Demsa Local Government Area.

“The women are from LCCN Simra in Dunen town, Song Local Government. I was driving behind the vehicle when, all of a sudden, I saw it start somersaulting into the bush,” Prambe recounted.

She added, “Three women died on the spot, while others were lying down without breathing, their bodies covered in blood.”

The bodies of the deceased and the injured were transported to the Specialist Hospital in Yola for treatment. The hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Dauda Wadinga, confirmed receiving the victims but said the medical team was focused on treating those still alive.

The Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, said updates would be provided after consultations with the local Divisional Police Officer, though no further information had been released at the time of filing this report.

Notably, last year, a similar accident involving LCCN women on the same route to the Demsa convention resulted in multiple fatalities, highlighting recurring safety concerns along the stretch.
