By Aishat Momoh. O.

The Lagos State Government has announced a total closure of the Epe-bound carriageway of the Lekki–Ajah Expressway from Admiralty Way Junction to Jubilee Bridge, Ajah, to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation works along the corridor.
The announcement was made in a press release by the Ministry of Transportation on Thursday, signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
According to the statement, the closure is intended to allow uninterrupted construction works from intersection to intersection, while traffic will be diverted to the Lagos-bound carriageway, with priority given to peak periods.
Morning Peak (5:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.): Two lanes will serve Lagos-bound traffic, and one lane will serve Epe-bound traffic.
Evening/Night Peak (3:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.): Two lanes will serve Epe-bound traffic, and one lane will serve Lagos-bound traffic.
Motorists were advised to use the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road as an alternative route where possible. Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other personnel will be deployed along the corridor, and a tow truck will be stationed on-site to handle emergencies.
Night-time operations will involve partial closures at key intersections, including Admiralty Way, Maruwa, Freedom Way, Chisco, Jakande, Igbo-Efon, Chevron, Lekki Conservation Toll Plaza to VGC, and VGC to Jubilee Bridge. All intersections will be fully closed for eight hours during asphalt laying operations to ensure quality and safety.
