NDLEA ARRESTS TOGOLESE WOMAN, SEIZES DRUGS ACROSS MULTIPLE STATES

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a Togolese woman for alleged drug trafficking at the Seme border in the Badagry area of Lagos State.

According to a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, the suspect was intercepted on Friday at the departure tarmac with 5,000 pills of tramadol concealed in her luggage.

Babafemi also disclosed that 1,040 kilograms of skunk, a strain of cannabis, were recovered from an uncompleted building at Akodo village, Seaside Eleko, along the Ibeju-Lekki axis of Lagos on Wednesday.

In Kano State, a suspect was arrested at Lambu in Tofa Local Government Area while conveying 1,499 bottles of codeine syrup in a Volkswagen Golf car marked CA 911 ABC.

Similarly, another suspect was nabbed on Friday along the Zaria–Dutsinma road in Katsina State while transporting 87.4 kilograms of skunk in a Toyota Hiace bus marked KUJ 544 RL.

In Osun State, two suspects, Adewale Fatunmise, 40, and Adebisi Korede, 25, were arrested in connection with the seizure of 18.085 kilograms of skunk at Aregbe area of Osogbo on February 23.

Operatives also intercepted 637,600 pills of opioids, including tramadol, diazepam and exol-5, along the Bali–Suntai road in Taraba State. The drugs were being conveyed in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle marked KWL-607DC to Baruwa in Gashaka LGA.

Another interdiction at Lankaviri in Taraba led to the arrest of a suspected drug peddler and the seizure of 126.022 kilograms of skunk.

In the Federal Capital Territory, 499.2 kilograms of skunk were recovered at the Dei-Dei area on February 25.

Meanwhile, a suspect was intercepted with 7,000 capsules of tramadol along the Bama–Konduga road in Borno State.

Babafemi added that the agency’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy campaign continued nationwide. Sensitisation lectures were held at Government Girls Science Secondary School, Tungan Magajiya, Niger State; Federal Government College, Odo Oru, Ogbomoso, Oyo State; Government Day Senior Secondary School, Fagam, Jigawa State; and Government Science College, Esuk Ekpoeyo, Cross River State, among others.

The agency reiterated its commitment to sustained operations aimed at curbing drug trafficking and abuse across the country.
