US-IRAN CONFLICT INTENSIFIES, CAUSING WIDESPREAD GLOBAL FLIGHT DISRUPTIONS

By: Fasasi Hammad
Global air travel was thrown into turmoil on Sunday as sustained airstrikes forced the closure of major Middle Eastern airports, including Dubai.
The media gathered that key transit hubs such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, as well as Doha in Qatar, were shut down, with much of the region’s airspace remaining inaccessible.
The disruption followed fresh US and Israeli strikes that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Saturday, heightening uncertainty across the Gulf.
Israel announced it had launched another round of attacks on Iran on Sunday, while explosions were heard for a second consecutive day near Dubai and over Doha after Iran carried out retaliatory strikes on neighbouring Gulf states.
In the aftermath, Dubai International Airport sustained damage, while airports in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait were also reportedly affected.
