The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of appointments for 1,659 staff members of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
These confirmed staff were part of the 2,281 employees who took the confirmation examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.
In a statement on Sunday, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, quoted the Commission Chairman, Emeka Ezeh, as noting that some of the workers who took the exam had been employed as far back as 2016 and 2019.

“While 2,512 candidates were invited to appear for the confirmation exam, only 2,281 attended. A total of 224 officers were absent, raising concerns that some could be ghost workers,” Ezeh said.
He added, “Some of the staff who took the confirmation exam were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others joined shortly before Minister Wike assumed office in August 2023.”
The FCT Civil Service Commission has also finalized plans to carry out the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, as approved by the Minister and in line with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to revitalizing the FCTA workforce.
