Two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been ranked boxing’s most efficient earner, with a new study revealing he has made an average of £172,346 for every punch landed throughout his professional career.
The research, conducted by online casino platform 247Bet, analysed 25 professional boxers who have appeared in at least one bout broadcast by a major television network in the United Kingdom over the past five years. The study compared estimated career prize money with the total number of punches landed by each fighter.
According to the findings, Joshua has landed 2,289 punches across 33 professional fights, earning an estimated £394.5 million in prize money during that period. The study also estimates that he earns about £50,108 for every punch thrown, regardless of whether it lands.
Second on the list is YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, who reportedly earns £162,562 per punch landed across 11 fights, while former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury ranks third with £147,559 per punch landed over 37 bouts.
The remaining fighters in the top five include:
Oleksandr Usyk – £107,543 per punch landed
Deontay Wilder – £65,554 per punch landed
Despite earning the highest total prize money in the study at an estimated £455 million, Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez ranked sixth, averaging £64,249 per punch landed. Alvarez also threw the most punches among the fighters analysed — 7,088 punches across 67 fights.
Other fighters completing the top 10 are:
Daniel Dubois
Joseph Parker
Terence Crawford
Conor Benn
The report comes as Joshua, 36, continues his recovery following a serious car crash on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on December 29.
The accident reportedly occurred 10 days after Joshua knocked out Jake Paul in six rounds in Miami, and tragically claimed the lives of two of his close associates — personal trainer Kevin Ayodele and recovery therapist Sina Ghami.
Joshua’s return to the ring has been delayed due to the incident, but his promoter Eddie Hearn is now targeting a comeback fight in July, with a potential blockbuster bout against Tyson Fury later in the summer.
