IBADAN CLERIC AGBALA GABRIEL FACES ALLEGATIONS OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT, DONATION MISMANAGEMENT

An Ibadan, Oyo State-based cleric, Kayode Amusan, popularly known as Agbala Gabriel, has come under scrutiny following allegations of sexual misconduct and mismanagement of donations raised for sick individuals.
For years, the cleric built a reputation online as a compassionate pastor whose ministry frequently mobilised public support for the sick and vulnerable. Videos of him praying for struggling families and appealing for financial assistance often circulated across social media, earning him admiration from many Nigerians who viewed him as a charitable religious leader.
However, his reputation has recently come under intense debate after a series of allegations surfaced on platforms such as Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.
One of the controversies reportedly involves a woman identified as Morenikeji, who was said to be suffering from a spinal condition and whose medical case had attracted public donations.
In a viral video, Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola disclosed that she had earlier helped raise funds for the woman’s surgery but later withdrew after learning that the patient’s family had taken her to the cleric for assistance.
According to Daramola, the cleric allegedly failed to fulfil promises of providing accommodation and medical support for the patient.
“I initially raised money for the woman’s surgery, which wasn’t enough. But as soon as the family took her to Agbala Gabriel’s care, I withdrew,” she said.
The woman’s daughter also alleged in the same video that she eventually removed her mother from the cleric’s care due to concerns over how the situation was being handled.
While that controversy continued to gain attention online, another allegation emerged involving claims that the cleric fathered twins with a former backup singer in his church.
A popular blogger, known as Iyalaje Courtroom, alleged during a live broadcast that the cleric was involved in both the mismanagement of donations and inappropriate relationships with women in his ministry.
According to the blogger, the woman, identified as Bolu, was a former backup singer in the church who allegedly became pregnant and later gave birth to twins.
“She was about 23 when the relationship started and she is now 25,” the commentator claimed, adding that the cleric initially denied responsibility for the pregnancy but later accepted it and rented accommodation for the woman and the children.
The claim was also supported by charity advocate Princess Adeyinka, who alleged she personally intervened when the issue first surfaced.
“Agbala Gabriel impregnated Bolu and initially refused to take responsibility. I had to personally beg him to accept responsibility when I first heard about it,” she said.
As the allegations continue to spread across social media, reactions have remained divided, with some supporters defending the cleric’s years of charity work while others are calling for greater transparency.
Reacting to the claims, Amusan denied the allegations, describing them as attempts to tarnish his reputation.
“This is how they try to bring ministers of God down. All ministers who become famous face this kind of lies,” he said, adding that prominent pastors, including Enoch Adeboye, have also faced criticism and allegations on social media.
The cleric insisted that the claims circulating online are false and part of a broader trend of targeting religious leaders.
