The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
In a goodwill message issued on Thursday in Port Harcourt by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor prayed that the celebration would bring joy, peace and harmony to all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, ethnicity or background.
Fubara, speaking on behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, wished Muslim faithful a joyous Eid celebration and emphasised the need for unity among citizens.
“May this occasion strengthen our bonds of peace, unity and mutual respect among all faiths. Let us continue to cherish our diversity and promote harmony, tolerance and understanding,” he said.
He further urged Nigerians to uphold values of compassion, forgiveness and unity in their daily lives.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period devoted to fasting, prayers and almsgiving by Muslims worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government of Nigeria had earlier declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration.
