NATIONAL POLICE DAY: OGUN COMMAND CONDUCTS MEDICAL OUTREACH, SANITATION DRIVE

As part of the 2026 National Police Day activities, the Ogun State Police Command on Monday carried out a medical outreach and a statewide sanitation exercise.
According to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, the medical outreach took place at the Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Oluseyi stated that the exercise was officially flagged off by Commissioner Bode Ojajuni on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.
He added that participants in the medical outreach underwent screenings for blood sugar, blood pressure, height, weight, and other vital health checks.
The Police Public Relations Officer added that residents were also educated on basic healthcare practices.

Oluseyi stated, “The Ogun State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner Bode Ojajuni and on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has officially launched activities for Police Week in celebration of the 2026 National Police Day.
“Today marks the first day of the week-long programme, which includes free medical services and a statewide sanitation exercise,” he added.
“The free medical screening, organised by the Department of Force Medical Services of the Ogun State Police Command, took place at the NUJ Council Secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta,” Oluseyi said.
“Members of the public received services such as blood sugar and blood pressure checks, height and weight measurements for body mass index, as well as health talks on regular medical check-ups and exercise,” Oluseyi said.
He added that the statewide sanitation exercise, conducted across divisional and area commands, showcased the police’s commitment to public health.
“These initiatives highlight the command’s people-focused approach to policing and embody the spirit of Police Week, celebrating the dedication and service of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Residents and beneficiaries have praised the initiatives as timely and impactful, while the command remains committed to service, partnership, and proactive policing. Activities for Police Week and the 2026 National Police Day will continue across the state throughout the week,” he said.
Oluseyi also expressed appreciation to the NUJ and local residents for their support in making the programme a success.
The Media reports that several police commands nationwide carried out humanitarian activities to mark the National Police Day.
