Meanwhile, the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has ordered a full investigation into a gas leak incident at Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Ijebu-Ode.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, affected about 30 students and a teacher, who were hospitalised after a suspected gaseous substance spread across the school premises shortly after assembly.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, the governor directed security agencies to determine the cause of the leak and prevent future occurrences.
The government also ordered the immediate closure of the affected school and the establishment of a Situation Room at the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode to provide free treatment for victims and residents of nearby communities, including Makalewo, Ogbogbo, Molipa, Igbegba, Ikoto, and Oke-Aje.
Residents were urged to remain calm, as authorities stated that there was no confirmed security threat linked to the incident. Officials from the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency have since deployed gas analysers to identify the source and nature of the substance.
Most of the affected students and staff are reported to be in stable condition, while investigations continue to determine the exact cause of the leak.
