Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has addressed a viral slogan suggesting he would serve only one term, clarifying his political plans amid ongoing party realignments.

In a video message to a gathering, Yusuf responded to the Hausa chant ‘Falle Daya’ (One term), explaining that his first term would be under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), while any second term would be contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He stated: “Actually, it is only one term in the NNPP. We will pursue the second term in the APC. As for the ADC party they have returned to, it will not even last one term, not ever.”

The governor recently defected from the NNPP to the APC following a prolonged political dispute with his former ally, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Announcing the defection, Yusuf said the decision was made “in the best interest of the people of Kano State.”

Prior to leaving the NNPP, he resigned from the party, citing “deepening internal crises” and “prolonged leadership disputes.”
