A statement from the Oba’s Chief Press Secretary, Osaignovo Iguobaro, noted that the monarch praised the singer’s role ā€œin promoting the cultural heritage of Beninā€ and acknowledged that some of Shallipopi’s fans are present within the palace.

The Oba also said, ā€œBy the authority of all my ancestors and the power of Almighty God, please do not let us down. We thank God for not letting us down. This son is in our palace, and we shall continually keep you in our prayers because of the way you are promoting Edo culture all over the world. Those who seek to denigrate Edo will have our ancestors to contend with.ā€

During his visit, Shallipopi enjoyed the warm hospitality of the palace alongside Jerry Dl, the famous Pluto brothers, and family members. He also signed the shirt of Benin infant Prince Idugbowa Ewuare after paying homage to the revered Benin throne.
