Troops of the Joint Task Force under Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), operating within the framework of Operation WUTAN DAJI, have killed two suspected terrorists, arrested a kidnap suspect, and destroyed criminal hideouts during coordinated clearance operations across Plateau State.
The Media Information Officer of OPEP, Captain Polycarp Oteh, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, noting that the intelligence-driven operations were carried out on April 4, 2026. He said the mission targeted insurgent routes in Wase Local Government Area, particularly around Babangida, Adua, and Bokayi villages in the Dutsen Zaki forest.
According to the OPEP spokesman, troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, engaged armed groups in a gunfight along the Babangida–Adua road, leading to the killing of two suspects, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
He added that a follow-up search of the area resulted in the recovery of weapons and ammunition, including a locally made firearm and several rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
In a separate operation, the OPEP media officer said that on April 5, troops in Namu District of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area intercepted four suspected terrorists based on intelligence reports of suspicious movements.
“The suspects were in possession of 100 rounds of ammunition. However, while attempting to trace their hideout, troops came under heavy attack from other armed men. During the exchange of fire, three of the suspects earlier arrested were killed, while operations in the area are ongoing.
“Similarly, in Shendam Local Government Area, troops working with local residents apprehended a suspected kidnapper in Gidan Mangoro village. The suspect is believed to be connected to a recent abduction in the community and is currently in custody,” the statement added.
