ABUJA – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) has assured residents of an improved and more rapid response to fire outbreaks and other emergencies, following the promotion of 733 officers—the largest number of beneficiaries since the command’s inception.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the Controller of the FFS, FCT Command, Suleiman M. Anas, during a ceremony at the command headquarters in Kubwa. The promotions were part of the 2025 Senior Promotion Examination conducted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Board (CDCFIB).

Prominent officers among those promoted include Chief Superintendent of Fire (CSF) Aisha Aliu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer SF Barnabas Ayam, and Deputy Superintendent of Fire (DSF) Naimat Omeiza Ajayi.

Anas noted that the promotions would boost morale and motivate officers to deliver their best in protecting lives and property across the FCT. He said the upgrades included three Chief Superintendents promoted to Assistant Controllers, 36 Superintendents elevated to Chief Superintendents, 22 Deputy Superintendents promoted to Superintendents, 547 Assistant Superintendents of Fire I promoted to Deputy Superintendents, 46 Assistant Superintendents of Fire II promoted to Assistant Superintendents I, and 79 Inspectors promoted to Assistant Superintendents II.

“This is the highest number of promotions since the inception of this command,” Anas said, expressing gratitude to the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Samuel Adeyemi Olumode. “Timely promotions strengthen service delivery, and our personnel are now fully motivated to ensure the safety of lives and property in the FCT.”

The Controller further emphasized that the morale boost from the promotions would enhance the speed and efficiency of the command’s response to emergencies. He also urged residents to cooperate with the Fire Service by observing safety measures and promptly reporting incidents. “The earlier the call, the faster the response,” he said.

The event was attended by senior officials from defence, security, intelligence, and emergency response agencies operating in the FCT.
