WALDRUM HAS APOLOGIZED FOR HIS REMARKS — NFF
By F.A. Oduola
Augustine Eguavoen, technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), asserted that Randy Waldrum, head coach of the Super Falcons, has expressed regret for his recent remarks criticising the body.
Waldrum and the NFF recently got into a verbal altercation over the squad for the Super Falcons, unpaid bonuses and preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.
The American, who is currently camping with his squad in Brisbane ahead of the World Cup, questioned NFF’s accountability, claiming money meant for the competition were diverted by the football house.
However, according to Eguavoen, the 66-year-old has expressed regret for his outbursts.
” I am not comfortable with what I’ve been reading. I spoke with him. He apologized, he said he didn’t mean it that way,” Eguavoen told reporters.
” He felt if he speaks with a couple of people things will change, but it is not like that here, Nigeria is different, and Africa is different.
“But we have to do the right thing now, I’ve told him to just remain focused and forget about every other thing.
“Then as soon as the World Cup ends, we know what to do because everything coming up every now and then is a distraction for him and the team.”
