Senator Abubakar Kyari, the All Progressives Party’s (APC) Deputy National Chairman for the North, has assumed the role of interim National Chairman.

The change comes after Senator Abdullahi Adamu was compelled to quit his position as national chairman of the ruling party.

Adamu, a supporter of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, reportedly had to resign on Sunday.

The Progressive Governors’ Forum Chairman, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, received the resignation letter.

According to reports, Uzodinma gave President Bola Tinubu’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, who was in Nairobi, Kenya, the resignation letter.

Adamu’s resignation has been announced by Nze Chidi Duru, the APC’s deputy national organizing secretary.
Senator Iyiola Omisore, the national secretary, is expected to do the same.

Omisore’s anticipated departure has now made Barr. Festus Fuanter (Plateau State), the Deputy National Secretary, the acting National Secretary.

On Monday, July 17, at around 10:40 a.m., Kyari was escorted to a meeting in his office by seven NWC members.

When the Deputy National Chairman arrived at the APC national secretariat, he parked his official vehicle in the spot designated for the National Chairman.

Those who came in with Kyari are: Deputy National Chairman (South), Emma Enukwu; National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman; National Vice Chairman (North-East), Salihu Mustapha; National Vice Chairman (North Central), Muazu Bawa; National Vice Chairman (South-West), Issacs Kekemeke; National Vice Chairman (South-East), Ejoroma Arodiogu and the Deputy National Secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter.

Omisore arrived at the secretariat at around 11:20 a.m. to attend the NWC meeting.

Omisore, however, was unable to attend the meeting.

His deputy had already taken up his parking space before he even got to the national secretariat.

The secretariat soon saw Omisore leave. He declared he would see Adamu to inquire as to his absence from the workplace.

Born on January 15, 1960, in Borno State, Senator Kyari was the son of the late Brigadier Abba Kyari, a former military administrator of North Central from 1967 to 1975.
