LASG LAUDS POPO AGUDA EASTER CONCERT

Lagos State Government has lauded the initiator of the annual Popo Aguda Easter Arts and Music Concert Extravaganza for fostering cultural interactions and promoting the spirit of Easter, while also showcasing Lagos as a culturally diverse mega-city

The Chairman of Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Solomon Bonu and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe gave the commendation at the third edition of the event held at the Campos Mini-Stadium on Lagos Island over the weekend.

Speaking at the event organised by the Brazilian Descendants Arts and Culture Association Lagos, in collaboration with Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Bonu expressed the government’s dedication to supporting cultural initiatives, anticipating even grander celebrations in the future.

On his part, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture affirmed that the festival is a unique way of encouraging and promoting interactions among residents during the Easter period, being a season that signifies love, sacrifice and tolerance.

The Special Adviser implored the Brazilian Descendants Arts and Culture Association Lagos to ensure that the annual celebrations continue to promote the rich cultural heritage of the State and the Brazilian community.

He averred that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to the promotion and marketing of the Stateā€™s potential in tourism through the display of rich cultural heritage by supporting Cultural Festivals and music Fiestas

“Lagos State Government will continually support the entertainment industry and events as this that promotes local culture, heritage and interactions with one another”, the Special Adviser stated.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Third Brazilian Descendants Arts and Culture Association, Rear Admiral Anthony Okanlawon Oni (Rtd.) underscored the festival’s significance as a cornerstone of community development.

He thanked the state government and the First Lady, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu for the continuous support accorded the Association.

Some of the dignitaries at the colourful evening fiesta celebration include former Chief Justice of Lagos State, Honourable Justice Olufumilayo Atilade, Chief Alex Duduyemi, the Aro of the Source alongside Directors and staff of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
