HERDSMAN ALLEGEDLY CUT OFF FARMER’S HAND IN KADUNA COMMUNITY
A herdsman identified as Wuzaipa Salisu has allegedly cut off the hand of a farmer, Bitrus Chawai, in Damakasuwa, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
When the incident occurred, the woman was reportedly on her way home to get ready for this year’s farming.
On Wednesday, the victim’s younger brother, Barnabas, confirmed the incident.
He claims that on Sunday, the victim (Bitrus), a former NULGE Chairman in the Kauru Local Government Area and current state trustee, came to his house to clear the field in order to start farming this year.
“My elder brother went to his farm, which is not more than 200km from our family house, and discovered that cows entered one of his farms and ate beans. He approached the boy only to be attacked.
“Their target was to machete his head, but he used his hand to shield his head. As a result, his arm was chopped off,” he said.
Barnabas told our correspondent that that was not the first time the herdsman would do something like that in the community.
He said two people were similarly attacked last year.
“His father personally took him to the Divisional Police Station in Damakasuwa, Kauru Local Government Area.
“As we speak, my brother has been bleeding profusely since yesterday (Tuesday); we have been referred to another hospital in Kaduna,” Barnabas added.
The spokesperson for the state’s police command, ASP Mansir Hassan, did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him by our correspondent.
