
OBOREVWORI ANNOUNCES COMPLETE WITHDRAWAL OF MILITARY PERSONNEL FROM OKUAMA COMMUNITY
On Wednesday, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori declared that the military had left the Okuama community entirely.
This was revealed by the governor at a press conference held at Government House in Asaba, indicating that the Okuama displaced people are now free to go back to their homes.
Additionally, he revealed that the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp established by his government to facilitate the orderly and seamless resettlement of the displaced population of Okama is currently operational.

After 17 Army personnel were brutally murdered on March 14, 2024, in the riverine town of the Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state, many locals fled into the nearby communities and waterways, and the military seized control of the area.
The 17 soldiers, who included the battalion’s commander, two majors, a captain, and twelve other members, were buried at the Military Cemetery in Abuja after their service.
Following the governor’s pronouncement, it was anticipated that the populace would start to rebuild their communities by going back to their homes.
